Course Reviews

Course Name Teeth of the Dog Course
Location La Romana, Dominican Republic
Comments from Chris Quinlan, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA
This is the most spectacular and interesting golf course I have ever played. There are 7 true ocean holes and 2 holes (from the gold tees) that require a carry over the La Romana airport runway. The practice facility was also outstanding and included a practice bunker and chipping green. I was on a golf package, but the rates in early May were $100 w/cart, a great deal. The local caddies were great, ask for Raymond if you go and tell him "John Daly" sent you, he'll know who I am. One note, bring a few extra balls because the prices in the pro shop are outrageous. As a 10, I played from the gold tees each day (6900) yards and managed to stay in the mid to high 80's. There are a couple of long par fours 460, 443, 427 but the most difficult hole is a 223 yard par 3 over the ocean with 200 yards of pure carry. A 2-iron got me a 75 foot putt back to the pin, while a 3-iron got me in the front bunker. The hot low irons don't seem to hold well.
