Course Reviews

Course Name Wycombe Heights Golf Centre
Location Buckhinghamshire, England
Comments from Anthony Heyes, Egham, Surrey, England
Wycombe Heights golf club is an excellent hill-side course for the mid-handicapper. Located about 5 minutes from Junction 3 of the M40 between London and Oxford, it can be reached in little more than half an hour from either city. The course is not particularly long, but requires accuracy off the tee. Many of the fairways and greens have a slope or camber - sometimes quite pronounced - and starting the ball up the "right side" is often critical to playing the hole in par. Sloping stances and hanging lies are a regular feature of a turn around Wycombe - you'll use the full length of your shafts. The course looks down on the lower ground around, and can get very windy in Winter. There is barely a 'filler' hole to be found - and the signature hole is the steeply downhill par 4 18th - distinctly reachable even without use of a driver when the ground is hard. Rates are very reasonable for a course as well maintained as this one is (less than £15 for a round) and visitors are welcome (no certificate required). Try it !
